On Monday 21st July The CiaO Foundation held a very successful fundraising Golf Day at The Army Golf Club, raising funds to support individuals with mental and physical disabilities take on challenges.
Thankfully, the British weather behaved, contrary to all predictions! After bacon rolls and coffee to kick things off, 16 teams teed off for 18 competitive holes. It was a close contest, but congratulations to the winning team, Symington Elvery (Stefan Cook, Andrew Symington, Ed Fielding, and Chris Macartney) for their impressive score! Prizes were also given to Alex Rogers for the Longest Drive and to Colin Garvin for the ‘Nearest the Pin’ competition.
After a delicious BBQ, provided by the golf club, the raffle was drawn and the Silent Auction took place. Thank you to all donors who generously contributed prizes for both the raffle and auction!
A big thank you, from all at CiaO, to Richard Lloyd, the General Manager, and all his colleagues at The Army Golf Club for hosting and arranging such a special day, as well as kindly providing raffle prizes and a voucher for 4 to play at the club which was sold in the auction. Our thanks also to Madlins for funding the halfway hut refreshments.
All players thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality, and all commented on how much they appreciated playing the course, and particularly the superb quality of the Greens, despite the recent weeks of hot weather!
We’d also like to thank all who played, attended and supported the event. Thanks to you all, CiaO raised significant funds which will go directly towards Grants for individuals facing physical and or mental challenges.
Andrew Hogge & Andrew Rogers, Trustees of the CiaO Foundation, said: “The Army Golf Club, the 64 players and the generous donors of the raffle prizes and auction lots made our golf day such a memorable, enjoyable and successful event – our thanks to you all”.
