The CiaO Foundation is delighted to share the success of a recent silent auction held during a special preview of Road, a new series of paintings by acclaimed British artist Duncan Robert McCormick (See the Series – Click Here). Hosted at the H.R. Owen Lotus showroom on Piccadilly in London, the preview event brought together art enthusiasts, supporters and friends to celebrate McCormick’s latest body of work.
Best known for his vibrant use of colour and expressive handling of landscape and interior scenes, McCormick works primarily in acrylics and oils. His work is collected internationally and exhibited in both private and public spaces. The new series, Road, includes vivid paintings, reflecting McCormick’s love affair with the changing landscapes, rhythms and fleeting perspectives of rural travel. Living on the Welsh Borders, McCormick draws constant inspiration from the diversity of the UK’s rural scenery.
“We have some fabulous and very diverse scenery on this island,” he says. The series celebrates the “…wonderful roads we still have and should cherish, when we veer away from the straight lines of the motorways.”
During the preview, a silent auction was held for one of McCormick’s original drawings. The winning bid of £1,700 was donated to The CiaO Foundation. This contribution will go towards supporting people overcoming significant challenges in their lives, helping us continue our aim of championing resilience, confidence and opportunity.
Andy Hogge, Chairman of The CiaO Foundation, says, “We are very grateful to Duncan McCormick for choosing CiaO as the charity partner for this special event and for his generosity in supporting us. We wish you every success with the launch of this beautiful new series.”
