We are incredibly proud to share that CiaO grant recipient Toby Richardson has won the TCS London Mini Marathon 2026 T54 wheelchair race, setting a new course record in the process.
Toby delivered an outstanding performance, finishing the 2.6km race in 6 minutes 54 seconds, beating the previous 2025 record of 7 minutes 19 seconds. This remarkable achievement crowns him the U18 Male T54 Wheelchair Champion and record holder.
This victory marks an exceptional start to Toby’s 2026 season and builds on what has already been an inspiring journey. Reflecting on his win, Toby shared:
“I’m not going to pretend I went into today feeling confident, because I didn’t. This winter has been rough. Illness, injury, setbacks… the kind that make you question everything. I lined up with more nerves than I’ve ever felt, just hoping I had enough left in the tank. Then the race happened. 6:54, 25 seconds faster than last year. I don’t even have the words. The crowds were unreal… I think I needed every single one of those cheers. To anyone going through a rough patch right now, the comeback is real. Don’t give up on yourself.”
Toby’s determination and resilience continue to inspire everyone around him, and we are honoured to support his journey. His busy season continues this weekend as he competes in Coventry at the BWAA competition.
We wish Toby the very best of luck as he continues what is already shaping up to be an incredible year.
“We are so incredibly proud of Toby’s determination, focus and success, and we look forward to following the rest of his 2026 season”
